Arranging an assessment
Outpatient appointments are booked through the hospital on the numbers below; international patients can ask for Michael Yu. Bring what you currently use on your skin, or a list of it, because skincare is part of how skin looks and is part of the assessment rather than a separate matter.
What a good assessment includes
An assessment of hydration and elasticity, of crepiness and pore size, and of sun damage, together with an assessment of volume and contour as a separate question. A history that covers skin conditions, reactions to previous treatments and general health. And a statement of which complaint the plan addresses, because a plan that treats both at once should be able to say why each part of it is there.
Asking about the plan
Ask which complaint the proposed treatment addresses, and what it will not change. Ask how many sessions the plan involves and what happens at the end of it. If both are being suggested, ask in what order and why, and ask what would happen if only one of them were done. A plan that can answer those questions is a plan rather than a list.
Before you commit
No decision needs to be made at the first appointment. Take the plan away, read it against the guides on this site, and come back with questions. If skincare or a skin condition is being addressed first, that is a sign the plan is being built around your skin rather than around an appointment, and the result is worth waiting for.
